Dallas–Fort Worth Aging-in-Place Remodelers

Walk-in showers, grab bars, wheelchair ramps & accessible bathroom remodels for Dallas, Fort Worth, Plano, Frisco, Arlington, Keller & North Texas suburbs

← All Texas listings

DFW's housing mix — brick ranch homes across East Dallas and Fort Worth, mid-century slabs in Richardson and Arlington, and newer builds in Plano, Frisco, and McKinney — was rarely planned for aging bodies. Aging-in-place remodeling focuses on practical changes that help people stay home safely: a curbless or walk-in shower, grab bars anchored into studs, a ramp or zero-step entry, wider doorways, and better lighting. Below are 10 remodelers who publicly emphasize CAPS credentials or clear accessibility / aging-in-place bathroom work and who list Dallas, Fort Worth, or major DFW suburbs in their service area. Details come from each firm's own website (Oct 2026) — verify phones, credentials, and scope before you hire.

Aging-in-place tips for Dallas–Fort Worth homeowners

Do I need a City of Dallas, Fort Worth, or county permit?

Many grab-bar installs and minor bath-safety upgrades do not require a permit. Moving drains for a curbless shower, widening doorways, exterior ramps, or electrical changes often do. Ask your remodeler who will file, and confirm with the City of Dallas Building Inspection, the City of Fort Worth Development Services, or the appropriate Collin / Denton / Tarrant / Dallas County or suburban municipal office. Rules change; verify before work starts.

What about funding help?

Some veterans may look into VA HISA or Specially Adapted Housing grants; eligible Medicaid enrollees may have Minor Home Modification benefits through STAR+PLUS; and Area Agencies on Aging serving Dallas, Tarrant, Collin, and Denton counties can point seniors toward local programs. Remodelers sometimes help with paperwork, but they are not benefits counselors — confirm eligibility with each program.

How do I check a CAPS credential?

Ask the company who holds the CAPS designation (it is an individual credential), then look them up in the official NAHB CAPS directory when possible. Our notes flag when a firm claims CAPS on its own site or a public professional / association profile.
